this was the last time the boys in Blue held that cup, Their last appearance in the Stanley cup Finals in fact.
but we kicked the crap out of the Montreal Canadiens.

We won it at home in the Maple Leaf Gardens to a sold out crowd... and that was it !
We never won the cup again.

Bobby Orr made his NHL debut on October 19, with an assist in a 6–2 win over Detroit.

Terry Sawchuk got his 99th shutout when Toronto blanked Detroit 4–0 on February 25. He got his 100th career shutout on March 4, when Toronto defeated Chicago 4–0.

Bobby Hull scored his 50th goal of the season when Chicago lost to Toronto 9–5 on March 18 at Maple Leaf Gardens. Another superlative for the Black Hawks was Stan Mikita, who tied the league scoring record with 97 points in claiming the Art Ross Trophy for the third time. Mikita was also awarded the Hart Memorial Trophy as most valuable player.

The Chicago Black Hawks, who had won three Stanley Cups, finished first overall in the standings for the first time in their history, a full seventeen points ahead of the Montreal Canadiens and nineteen ahead of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

well lets get to that point.

in the past Forty odd years we have been Cup-less...worse yet we never to make it to the finals, we came close once, but like all Leafs fans I believe fully that IF we went against the Habs in the early nineties they would have been eating crow, but alas this didn't happen because Gretzky is a cheat and the Refs are as corrupt as Conrad Black!
WE didn't get to the finals and like most Leafs fans I rooted the Habs on because the thought of the Kings winning sickened me to the core of my being.
so I rooted for the Habs .. I didn't like it, I wasn't proud but I did it.

WE have had to deal with the Montreal Canadiens make fun of us, we have taken on the name "Toronto Make-Me-Laughs" WE have to deal with jokes about this since before I was concieved.
for the past 4 decades we have been the joke of the NHL.. but now some little fact-oids .. enjoy and for those fans who are just about to give up please keep reading....

we have NEVER had such a loosing streak in my memory either. in fact the last time was 43 years ago... hmm, sound familiar does it?

I dont know if this 7 game losing streak is a omen to a great thing or not...
but before you rule the Leafs out.. know we have come back against bigger odds only to win the cup... Thats correct my friends the last time we sucked this bad we won the cup!

so to all you nay-sayer's who think the leafs suck or you bandwagon fans who are only loyal to the boys in blue when we are winning.. to you I say " Pfft"
